Choose a neutral paint color. The new color in this living room is Sherwin-Williams accessible beige (SW-7036). This is a great neutral paint option because depending on the room it can have more gray tones or tan tones.
For wall art on a budget, BigLots has great deals on frames (as well as Walmart). For the pictures in the frames, I would suggest going to local spots around where you live and snapping a few photos. This helps the pictures on the wall to tell a story and makes it a lot more personal. Since we are blessed to live by the Smoky Mountains, I went into Cades Cove to get some pictures and a few nature trails by the river.
It's always good to have a clock or mirror above a mantle. This is also a great spot for frames with family pictures to really make it feel like home.

... and fresh flowers!
Walmart has some really pretty pillows a lot cheaper than most places. It's amazing what a few different color/textured pillows can do to a couch! The navy striped blanket on the other couch helped to tie in the color scheme. I found it on sale at TJ MAXX.
These $3 rods and a nice neutral curtain really help to soften up the walls and add a nice flow of texture to the room.
The final touches of some fresh flowers, this blue pot to bring in our accent color, and a personal family photo help to finish off the room! For all the paint, supplies and decorations this remodel came in around $300! I'm so thankful to my precious friend for letting me do this to her room! I really think it turned out so great and I had a blast doing it!
(P.S. they are working on building their own coffee table out of scrap wood to replace the ottoman, I'll be sure to post pictures of it when they finish!)
